I had never been to Lantau Island (大屿山) before so I eventually decided to join my friends for the trip to Lantau Island. We left HKUST at around 9.30 in the freezing morning, our friend from CityU was sick that day so we ended up going at our own.

We took cable car from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping, Lantau Island. This journey took around 15 minutes, accompanied by warm sunlight and spectacular aerial view. The Hong Kong Government reserves quite a lot of forests, still can see the greenish part of the land.

My friends went up to pray so I took sometime walking around, you might recognize the Tian Tan Buddha which has always been featured in media. Lantau Island is a scenic place, the atmosphere there is really peaceful and serene. It's a different experience for me to know more about their religion, the devoted Buddhists, usually the monks, prostrate once every few steps, approximate three steps if I'm not mistaken, all the way up to the Tian Tan Buddha, and my friends told me that they will count the stairs when they go down from the top.

We had a quite expensive vegetarian meal for lunch that day, feel like spending a lot just for that meal. We then went to the Wisdom Path, one of the scenic spots which is located in front of the Lantau Peak.

We left Ngong Ping at around 4 in the afternoon, by cable car down to Tung Chung. You might have heard of Tung Chung outlets before, it's basically a shopping mall where you can find branded outlets there, we went in to have a look since we had no plans already for the rest of the day. It was surprisingly full of people and we coincidentally bumped into Alvin and his mum there. This fruitful and relaxing day ended with famous Satay King's Ramen.
The days before I went back to Malaysia aren't a boring one. ;)
