Heart with Sarawak

 "It is heartbreaking.
Things will be on the mend eventually, like how the boat goes straight with the water current when it gets to the pier.
All the best Sarawak! Sincerest regards from Scandinavia." - photographed at Marmorbroen in Copenhagen.

The long journey

"The long journey that awaits ahead." - photographed at Assistens Kirkegård in Copenhagen.
It is now my fourth month of stay in Copenhagen. The weather has been improving since then and it seems to me that summer has already arrived a little earlier than usual. Three weeks of sunny days - what could have been better than that? I personally prefer it to be chillier as it gets too hot sometimes which is comparable to the current real-feel temperature in Hong Kong. However, such temperature makes it suitable to bike around the city in the evening when it starts to cool down, being accompanied with the long period of sunset that paints the sky with uplifting colors. On one of the sunny days, I biked along the streets in Frederiksberg and Nørrebro, passing by the long narrow road in Assistens Kirkegård. My mind was suddenly flooded with the memories that took place in the past three months.

Looking back to see, those big and small happenings, either good or bad, had made this journey to Scandinavia a memorable one. I could still remember that I was so worried about my residence permit which hadn't been granted by the time I left for Demark. It was my parents who helped comfort me and reminded me to have faith in God. "Don't worry about your residence permit. Believe in God and go in faith. Enjoy your exchange journey," - and still, resonating strongly in my mind.

It is really a journey of faith, not knowing if I could legally stay in Denmark for more than 90 days. If my residence permit application was rejected, I had to leave Denmark and that implies that I couldn't continue my exchange studies in Denmark. And also, I might be denied boarding in Dubai as the purchased ticket was a closed-end fare. What would be next if that's really the case? I might have to defer university studies. Negative thoughts ran in loops and made me really worried. Yes, I struggled with faith.

I left with a relief after praying together with my parents. Everything that followed turned out to be very smooth and I didn't have any problem entering Denmark. After a month, finally, I was granted my residence permit. Things fell into place subsequently. God has put many helping hands around me and led me throughout the period of waiting. And also, He provides me with a suitable church, a bunch of good friends, and many more that I could have already forgotten. I am really thankful for all of these.

What if all of these happened the other way around? Would I still have faith in God?
There are lots of things that I have to learn and improve. This journey of faith goes on. It is long and always awaits ahead as depicted in the picture.
